Carolina Creates Global is a project of Carolina Creates that has a dual purpose: a) to foster social and global entrepreneurship through student connection to the Entrepreneur-in- Residence program, and b) to celebrate individuals who have made extraordinary connections through the TEDxUNC conference.

During the 2011-2012 school year, we served as student liaisons for Global Social Entrepreneur- in-Residence, Dennis Whittle, founder of Global Giving. We organized small-scale events to reach as many different segments of the campus as possible and assembled a working group of twelve students that met with Dennis monthly.

Our first TEDxUNC conference in January 2012, TEDxUNC: Global Initiative, was a conference based on the concept of creation through connection – generating new thought on global issues by connecting existing resources. At TEDxUNC, innovative thinkers from both the university and the greater community discussed their approaches to some of humanity’s fundamental concerns.

This spring, Carolina Creates: Global Initiative assembled a student team that will lead TEDxUNC 2013 in Spring 2013. More information will be posted on our website ( and our Facebook Page (  For more information about TEDxUNC, contact us at!
